Greeningdon

The neighbourhood of Greeningdon is part of the city of Hamilton, Ontario, which is located in the Greater Hamilton metropolitan area.

Transportation

This neighbourhood is a fairly pleasant part of Hamilton for pedestrians; many common errands can be run without a vehicle, and various businesses are fairly close by. However, cycling is at times difficult in Greeningdon because the bicycling infrastructure is not very comprehensive, and there are a good number of slopes. This area is very car friendly. It is easy to find a parking spot, and it is a rather short car ride to the closest highway, such as Lincoln M Alexander Parkway, from any location in this area. On the other hand, the transit system in this area is sometimes poor. Nonetheless, the neighbourhood is served by a few bus lines, and bus stops are ordinarily around the corner.

Services

The nearest grocery store in Greeningdon is usually only a short walk away. Furthermore, there is typically a restaurant or cafe in close proximity. It is also convenient to reach a selection of clothing stores without a car. With respect to education, it is a short trip to get to daycares and primary schools from most houses for sale in Greeningdon. However, Greeningdon does not have any high schools.

Character

Greeningdon is a "jack-of-all-trades" when it comes to the ambience of this area. Although this area is not known for its vibrancy, with the nightlife venues in nearby neighbourhoods, it is easy to find a place to grab a drink as they are generally located relatively close by. Greeningdon is reasonably good for those who need a quiet atmosphere, as there isn't a lot of street noise or city clamour, although that is not the case around Lincoln M Alexander Parkway. There are approximately 10 green spaces close by for residents to discover and they are especially well-spread out, which results in them being easy to reach from the majority of locations in this part of Hamilton.

Housing

The proportions of homeowners and renters are about even. Single detached homes are the predominant housing type, representing the majority of dwellings in this part of the city, and the remainder are mainly large apartment buildings. This area experienced its biggest construction boom between 1960 and 1980, so most of the available housing is from this era. This neighbourhood is primarily composed of two bedroom and three bedroom homes.
