Berrisfield

Located within the Greater Hamilton metropolitan area, Berrisfield is a neighbourhood in Hamilton, Ontario.

Transportation

Walking is fairly practical for property owners in Berrisfield; many day-to-day needs can be met without a vehicle. Berrisfield is also moderately amenable to bicycling because riding a bike is facilitated by the generally flat terrain. Public transit riders may have limited choices in this neighbourhood by reason of the low service level. Nevertheless, homeowners have access to a few bus lines, and bus stops are not very far-removed from most houses. In contrast, driving is a very good transportation option in this neighbourhood. The majority of properties for sale are a short car ride from the closest highway, such as Lincoln M Alexander Parkway, and it is easy to find a parking spot.

Services

The nearest supermarket in this part of the city is generally only a very short stroll away. Furthermore, there are a fair number of opportunities within walking distance for those who appreciate restaurants and cafes. It is also convenient to get to a selection of clothing stores as a pedestrian. With regards to education, primary schools and daycares are straightforward to access as a pedestrian from anywhere in Berrisfield. However, parents and their children may find it challenging to get to high schools without a car.

Character

Berrisfield has a character that appeals to a fairly diverse group of people. Berrisfield is reasonably good for those who need a quiet atmosphere, as the streets are usually quite tranquil, although that is not the case close to Lincoln M Alexander Parkway. However, it is very easy to reach public green spaces in the neighbourhood since there are about 20 of them close by for residents to visit. Finally, although this part of Hamilton is not known for its lively atmosphere, its main streets are still quite energetic, and with the nightlife venues in nearby neighbourhoods, it is very easy to find a place to grab a drink because they are generally located around the corner.

Housing

Berrisfield experienced its main construction boom between 1960 and 1980, so most of the available housing is from this time period. In this neighbourhood, many dwellings are single detached homes, and the remaining properties are mainly large apartment buildings. Homeowners occupy about two thirds of the units in Berrisfield while the rest are rented. This part of Hamilton is primarily composed of four or more bedroom and three bedroom homes.
