The best means of transportation in Shad Bay is usually a car. It is especially convenient to access a parking spot. A majority of the houses for sale in this part of Halifax are located in places that are not very conducive to people who like to get around by walking as carrying out day-to-day needs is very inconvenient without a vehicle. Cycling is also very hard in Shad Bay as there are very few bike lanes, and riding is made arduous by the typically hilly terrain.

It is a reasonably short stroll to reach primary schools from most homes for sale in Shad Bay. On the other hand, there are no high schools in this area.
