Kearney Lake

Part of the Greater Halifax metropolitan area, Kearney Lake is a neighbourhood within Halifax, Nova Scotia.

Transportation

Cars are an excellent mode of transportation in this part of the municipality. Many homes for sale are a very short drive from the closest highway, and accessing a parking spot is easy. However, Kearney Lake is not very transit friendly. Thankfully, the neighbourhood is connected by a few bus lines, and most houses are very close to a bus stop. This part of the municipality is not especially amenable to cycling as there are few bike lanes, and cyclists are faced with a considerable amount of slopes. This area is also not especially suitable for pedestrians as meeting daily needs is sometimes challenging without the use of a car.

Services

It is very often practical for home buyers in Kearney Lake to do their grocery shopping by foot. A small number of restaurants and coffee shops are available as well. With regards to education, families will welcome that no matter where their property is located in this part of Halifax, daycares and high schools are close by. In contrast, there are no primary schools in Kearney Lake.

Character

People who prefer a calm ambience will enjoy Kearney Lake. This part of Halifax is quiet, as there are low levels of noise from traffic. Lastly, green spaces, like Ecole Secondaire Du Sommet Park and Abbington Avenue Community Park, are very well-situated and there are about 10 of them nearby for residents to enjoy, making it easy to access them.

Housing

In Kearney Lake, the majority of buildings are large apartment buildings, but single detached homes are also present in the housing stock. This part of the municipality is primarily composed of three bedroom and two bedroom homes. Roughly two thirds of the population of this neighbourhood rent their home and one third are owners. This part of Halifax experienced its largest building boom following the year 2000, so most of the available properties are from this time period.
