Sunnyside

The neighbourhood of Sunnyside can be found in the municipality of Halifax, Nova Scotia, which is situated in the Greater Halifax metropolitan area.

Transportation

This part of Halifax is convenient for those who like to travel on foot; many daily errands can be run without a vehicle. On the other hand, Sunnyside is not especially suited for cycling because bike riders encounter a significant amount of hills, and there are a limited number of bike lanes. Commuting by public transit is challenging in Sunnyside. Thankfully, there are a few bus lines traversing the neighbourhood, and the nearest bus stop is usually very close by. In contrast, cars are an excellent mode of transportation in this area. The majority of real estate listings are a short car ride from the closest highway, and it is very convenient to park.

Services

Daycares and high schools are very convenient to reach by foot from any location in this neighbourhood. However, this part of Halifax does not contain any primary schools. As far as food is concerned, a supermarket is ordinarily reachable within a very short walk from most houses for sale in Sunnyside. Likewise, Sunnyside is a fairly good place in which to eat out, and a small number of cafes is available as well. It is also convenient to reach a variety of clothing stores as a pedestrian.

Character

The character of Sunnyside is exemplified by its relaxed environment. This part of the municipality is reasonably good for those who like quiet areas, as there are low levels of noise from traffic. Lastly, public green spaces, including Bedford Barrens and Bud Bremner Park, are very well-distributed and there are approximately 10 of them close by for residents to unwind in, which makes it easy to access them.

Housing

In Sunnyside, many buildings are single detached homes, while small apartment buildings make up most of the remaining housing stock. This neighbourhood offers mainly three bedroom and two bedroom homes. Roughly 60% of the units in the neighbourhood are occupied by homeowners whereas the rest are rented. Around one quarter of homes in this neighbourhood were built in the 1960s and 1970s, while the majority of the remaining buildings were built pre-1960 and in the 1980s.
