Located in the Greater Halifax metropolitan area, Portland Estates is a neighbourhood within Halifax, Nova Scotia.

Transportation

Driving is a great means of transportation in Portland Estates. It is a reasonably short car ride to the closest highway from anywhere in this neighbourhood, and it is very convenient to find a place to park. However, travelling by transit can be challenging in Portland Estates as a result of the infrequent service. Nevertheless, there are about 10 bus lines passing through the neighbourhood, and bus stops are not very far-removed from most homes. Portland Estates is reasonably bike-friendly. A majority of the homes for sale in this neighbourhood are located in areas that are not particularly well-suited for those who prefer to get around on foot because few daily errands can be run without a vehicle.

Services

Parents and their kids will appreciate the proximity to daycares and primary schools, which are within walking distance from most, if not all, houses for sale in Portland Estates. However, it can be challenging to get to high schools without the use of a vehicle. Concerning eating, it is frequently practical for house buyers in Portland Estates to buy groceries by foot. In Portland Estates, the majority of dwellings are single detached homes, and the rest of the dwellings are mainly small apartment buildings. This part of Halifax experienced its biggest building boom after the year 2000, so most of the available housing stock is from this era. This neighbourhood offers mainly four or more bedroom and three bedroom homes. Homeowners occupy about 80% of the units in the neighbourhood whereas the remainder are rented.
