Located within the Greater Halifax metropolitan area, Pleasant Valley is a community within Halifax, Nova Scotia.
Transportation
Cars are an excellent mode of transportation in Pleasant Valley. It is very convenient to find a place to park. This community is not very appropriate for biking as the bicycling infrastructure is quite bad, and there are a good number of elevation changes. It is also very difficult for pedestrians to navigate Pleasant Valley as almost no common errands can be run without needing a vehicle.
Services
This part of Halifax does not contain any high schools or primary schools. Additionally, there are only a very small number of daycares and consequently they can be a very long trip away. Concerning food, in all cases, a car is needed in this part of the municipality to reach the closest grocery store.
Character
The character of Pleasant Valley is exemplified by its slower-paced ambience. Pleasant Valley is very quiet overall, as there are low levels of noise from traffic. Reaching parks, like Tait Lake Nature Reserve, is very difficult from most locations within the community since they aren't well-spread out. Still, there are a few public green spaces close by for residents to discover.
Housing
The predominant housing types in Pleasant Valley are single detached homes and row houses. This community offers mainly two bedroom and three bedroom homes. Homeowners occupy roughly 90% of the units in Pleasant Valley while the remainder are rented. Around 45% of properties in this community were built prior to the 1960s, while the majority of the remaining buildings were constructed in the 1960s and the 1990s.
