Mushaboom

Mushaboom is a community within Halifax, Nova Scotia, which is located in the Greater Halifax metropolitan area.

Transportation

Mushaboom is very car friendly. It is very convenient to park. Mushaboom is not very cycling-friendly because cyclists are faced with a significant amount of elevation changes, and there are very few bike lanes. Traveling by foot is also not very feasible for residents in this area since running daily errands is nearly impossible without the use of a vehicle.

Services

There are no high schools and no primary schools in Mushaboom. Furthermore, families may consider it very difficult to get to daycares as pedestrians. With regards to food, in all but a very small number of cases, a vehicle is needed in this part of the municipality to reach the closest supermarket.

Character

The character of Mushaboom is exemplified by its relaxed atmosphere. Mushaboom is excellent for those who like quiet areas, as there are generally low levels of noise from traffic. Green spaces aren't well-spread out, resulting in them being very hard to access from the majority of locations within the community. Despite that, there are a few parks nearby for residents to relax in, such as Eastern Shore Islands Wilderness Area.

Housing

Single detached homes and row houses are the predominant housing type in Mushaboom. This part of the municipality has a good selection of unit sizes, ranging from lofts to four or more bedrooms. Homeowners occupy roughly 85% of the units in the community while the rest are rented. About one third of homes in this part of the municipality were constructed prior to the 1960s, while the majority of the remaining buildings were built in the 1960s and the 1980s.
