Many of the houses for sale in this part of the municipality are located in areas that are not very conducive to people who get around as pedestrians as few common errands can be run without the use of a car. Mira Road is also not particularly amenable to cycling as the bicycling infrastructure is rather limited, and there are a good number of elevation changes to challenge cyclists.

However, there are only a few high schools in this community and accordingly they can be a long walk away. Moreover, Mira Road does not have any primary schools.

Character

Mira Road has a character that caters to a fairly diverse group of people. Although the atmosphere is not the liveliest in this part of the municipality with the nightlife venues in nearby communities, it is very hard to find a place to grab a drink as they are generally located very far. Mira Road is good for those who need a quiet atmosphere, as there isn't a lot of street noise or city clamour, although there are still several louder sections, especially around the airport (Sydney (Cape Breton Regional Hospital) Heliport). There are a few green spaces nearby for residents to visit, like Cabot Street Recreation Complex, making them very easy to get to.

Housing

Homeowners occupy about 55% of the properties in the community whereas the rest are rented. In this part of Cape Breton Municipality, many buildings are single detached homes, but small apartment buildings are also present in the housing stock. Roughly one third of properties in this area were built between 1960 and 1980, while many of the remaining buildings were constructed pre-1960 and in the 1980s. This community has a good selection of unit sizes, ranging from lofts to four or more bedrooms.
