Loch Lomond

Part of the Greater Saint John metropolitan area, Loch Lomond is a neighbourhood within Saint John, New Brunswick.

Transportation

This area is very car friendly. It is very convenient to park. However, commuting by transit can be difficult in this area by reason of the infrequent service. Thankfully, the neighbourhood is served by a few bus lines, and the nearest bus stop is generally around the corner. Most homes for sale in this part of the city are located in areas that are not very suitable for pedestrians since almost no day-to-day errands can be run without a vehicle. This neighbourhood is also not very amenable to biking because there is a significant amount of hills, and the cycling infrastructure is quite bad.

Services

In all but a very small number of cases, a vehicle is needed to shop for groceries. There are a few restaurants in this neighbourhood. When it comes to education, this area does not have any high schools or primary schools. Likewise, families may consider it very hard for their children to reach daycares as pedestrians.

Character

Loch Lomond is an excellent neighbourhood to buy a home in for those who prefer a relaxed environment. Loch Lomond is very quiet, as noise from the streets and other parts of the city is rarely an issue. It is rather difficult to reach parks in the neighbourhood since they aren't well-spread out. Despite that, there are around 20 public green spaces nearby for residents to unwind in.

Housing

Single detached homes and townhouses are the predominant housing type in Loch Lomond. This part of Saint John is primarily composed of four or more bedroom and three bedroom homes. Roughly 95% of the population of this neighbourhood own their home and renters make up the remainder. About one third of homes in this part of the city were constructed between 1960 and 1980, while the majority of the remaining buildings were built pre-1960 and in the 1990s.
