The neighbourhood of Granville Island can be found in the city of Vancouver, British Columbia, which is located in the Metro Vancouver metropolitan area.


Granville Island does not require use of a car since various other means of transportation are accessible. The public transit system in this area is very good. More specifically, no bus routes traverse the neighbourhood. Granville Island is also especially conducive to walking; all daily errands can be run on foot, and many businesses of different types can be found as well. Biking is convenient in Granville Island because the bicycling infrastructure is reasonably good.


It is usually an option for property owners in this area to purchase general and specialty groceries on foot. Additionally, there are around 20 restaurants and a few cafes to benefit from in this part of the city. Residents can find very many nearby clothing stores. Concerning education, it is a reasonably short walk to access daycares and schools from most houses for sale in this part of Vancouver.


Granville Island has a character that appeals to a fairly diverse group of people. Granville Island is quiet, as noise from streets and other parts of the city is rarely an issue. There are a few parks close by for residents to explore and they are especially well-distributed, making it very easy to reach them from most locations in the neighbourhood. Lastly, this part of the city has numerous areas to discover. There is a very good selection of entertainment venues, there are usually many people around, and with the bars in nearby neighbourhoods, it is very easy to find a place to grab a drink since they are generally located very close by. Main streets, like Johnston Street, are excellent for those who enjoy going out.


In Granville Island, about half of dwellings are small apartment buildings, while large apartment buildings and townhouses are also present in the housing stock. This area is primarily composed of one bedroom and two bedroom homes. About 60% of the units in the neighbourhood are occupied by renters whereas the remainder are occupied by owners. This neighbourhood experienced its main construction boom between 1960 and 1980, so most of the available housing stock is from this time period.
