Uptown

The neighbourhood of Uptown is part of the city of New Westminster, British Columbia, which is located in the Metro Vancouver metropolitan area.

Transportation

This area does not necessitate driving since various other means of transportation are available. Owing to various nearby rapid transit stations on the Expo Line, and around 10 nearby bus lines, the transit system in Uptown is reasonably practical. Uptown will also appeal to home buyers who value living in a walkable community as it is very walking-friendly; most day-to-day needs are convenient to carry out without needing a vehicle, and a fair number of businesses of different types can be found as well. Uptown is fairly bike-friendly since the bicycling infrastructure is rather well-developed.

Services

It is especially convenient to access the nearest supermarket as a pedestrian from most houses for sale in Uptown. In addition, owing to 100-odd restaurants and cafes in Uptown, there is generally a spot to get a meal or beverage just around the corner, for example along Sixth Street. A reasonable variety of clothing stores can also be found within a rather short walking distance. With regards to education, parents and their children will welcome that wherever their property is located in this part of New Westminster, daycares and schools are close by.

Character

Uptown has a character that appeals to a fairly diverse group of people. Uptown is quiet, as the streets are quite calm. On the other hand, it is easy to get to parks from a large number of locations in the neighbourhood since there are approximately 40 of them nearby for residents to explore. Finally, even though the ambience is not the most lively in this part of the city, the vibe is still quite lively around its main streets, and with its a few nightlife venues, there are options for nighttime activities.

Housing

In Uptown, about half of dwellings are large apartment buildings, while small apartment buildings make up most of the remaining housing stock. This neighbourhood is especially good for those looking for one bedroom homes. Renters occupy about two thirds of the dwellings in Uptown and owners occupy the remainder. Around half of properties in this neighbourhood were built in the 1960s and 1970s, while many of the remaining buildings were built pre-1960 and in the 1980s.
