South Alouette

Part of the Metro Vancouver metropolitan area, South Alouette is a neighbourhood within Maple Ridge, British Columbia.

Transportation

This area is very car friendly. It is very easy to park. In contrast, South Alouette is not very transit friendly. Thankfully, residents have access to a few bus lines, and most homes are very close to a bus stop. This part of the city is fairly bicycling-friendly. It is difficult for pedestrians to move around in South Alouette as few daily errands can be run without needing a vehicle.

Services

A supermarket is usually reachable within a rather long stroll from most properties for sale in South Alouette. Likewise, this part of Maple Ridge is a good place in which to eat out, and there are also a few coffee shops in this area. Concerning education, primary schools and daycares are convenient to get to without a car from anywhere in South Alouette. On the other hand, there are only a limited number of high schools and therefore they can be a long distance away.

Character

The character of South Alouette is exemplified by its slower-paced environment. This neighbourhood is quiet overall, as there isn't a lot of street noise or city clamour. Finally, there are about 30 green spaces nearby for residents to unwind in, such as Jerry Sulina Park and Merkley Park, and they are especially well-distributed, making them easy to access.

Housing

Single detached homes are the most common housing type, representing about 85% of dwellings in South Alouette, but duplexes are also present in the housing stock. About 40% of homes in this part of Maple Ridge were built in the 1960s and 1970s, while the majority of the remaining buildings were constructed pre-1960 and in the 1980s. This area is primarily composed of three bedroom and four or more bedroom homes. Roughly 90% of the dwellings in the neighbourhood are occupied by homeowners and the remainder are rented.
