Dundarave

Situated within the Metro Vancouver metropolitan area, Dundarave is a neighbourhood in West Vancouver, British Columbia.

Transportation

This area is a very good part of West Vancouver for getting around by car. The majority of properties for sale are a reasonably short drive from the closest highway, such as Trans-Canada Highway, and it is convenient to park. On the other hand, the public transit service in this part of West Vancouver is not very frequent. Thankfully, residents benefit from a few bus lines, and the nearest bus stop is generally very close by. Traveling as a pedestrian is not very popular in this area, although many common errands can be run without needing to get in a car. Bicycling is also at times challenging in this part of the municipality because cyclists are faced with quite a few hills, and the bicycling network is not especially well-developed. Thankfully, families often decide to travel by bicycle.

Services

In Dundarave, parents and their children will almost always be able to reach daycares and primary schools by foot. However, it can be difficult to reach high schools as a pedestrian. In terms of food, it is rarely practical for property owners in Dundarave to buy their groceries as pedestrians. Furthermore, a restaurant is commonly just around the corner, and a limited number of cafes can be found as well. It is also convenient to access a selection of clothing stores as a pedestrian.

Character

Dundarave offers a relaxed ambience and will appeal to those who enjoy spending time in green spaces. This part of West Vancouver is very quiet, as the streets are very peaceful. Lastly, it is very easy to access green spaces since there are about 20 of them nearby for residents to unwind in.

Housing

Single detached homes are the predominant housing type, representing around 55% of buildings in Dundarave, while the rest are mainly large apartment buildings, small apartment buildings, and duplexes. About one quarter of properties in this neighbourhood were built prior to the 1960s, while most of the remaining buildings were built in the 1960s and the 1980s. This part of West Vancouver has a good selection of unit sizes, ranging from lofts to four or more bedrooms. Homeowners occupy roughly three quarters of the units in the neighbourhood whereas the remainder are rented.
