City Centre

Part of the Greater Kelowna metropolitan area, City Centre is a neighbourhood within Kelowna, British Columbia.

Transportation

City Centre is very conducive to those who get around on foot; many day-to-day errands can be run without the use of a vehicle, and there are also a fair number of businesses in proximity. Bicycling is very embraced in this area because the cycling infrastructure is rather extensive. The public transit in City Centre is not particularly accessible. Thankfully, residents benefit from approximately 10 bus lines, and the closest bus stop is usually very close by. On the other hand, cars are a reasonably good means of transportation in City Centre. It is convenient to access a place to park.

Services

Both general and specialty grocery stores are usually accessible within a short stroll from most houses for sale in this part of Kelowna. Additionally, there is typically a restaurant or cafe in close proximity, for instance on Bernard Avenue. Residents can find a fair number of nearby clothing stores. As far as education is concerned, parents and their schoolchildren will value that no matter where their home is located in City Centre, schools and daycares are close by.

Character

City Centre offers a variety of experiences for those who enjoy a vibrant atmosphere and spending time outdoors. Although the ambience is not the liveliest in this neighbourhood, its main streets can still be quite dynamic, and with its about 10 nightlife venues, it is very easy to find a place to grab a drink as they are generally located around the corner. However, reaching parks in the neighbourhood, including Waterfront Park and Abbott Street Conservation Area, is easy since there are about 30 of them close by for residents to relax in.

Housing

Roughly two thirds of the properties in the neighbourhood are occupied by renters and the rest are occupied by owners. Small apartment buildings are the most common housing type, representing the majority of dwellings in this part of the city, while the remainder are mainly large apartment buildings. Around 45% of properties in this neighbourhood were constructed after the year 2000, while many of the remaining buildings were built in the 1960s and the 1980s. This part of the city offers mainly one bedroom and two bedroom homes.
