Cape Horn is a neighbourhood within Coquitlam, British Columbia, which is situated in the Metro Vancouver metropolitan area.

Transportation

Cars are a great transportation option in this part of Coquitlam. It is a rather short drive to the nearest highway, such as Trans-Canada Highway, from anywhere in Cape Horn, and it is very easy to park. However, residents using public transit may experience limited choices in Cape Horn by reason of the service's low frequency. Nevertheless, the neighbourhood is linked by a few bus lines, and it is very easy to get to a nearby bus stop from most residences. Despite the fact that the cycling network is extensive, it is sometimes difficult to commute by bike in this part of Coquitlam because there is a considerable amount of hills. It is also at times challenging for people walking to navigate Cape Horn as few common errands can be run on foot.

It is easy to get to the nearest supermarket by walking in Cape Horn. There are also a few opportunities for those who appreciate restaurants and cafes in close proximity. When it comes to education, it is a rather short walk to get to schools and daycares from anywhere in Cape Horn.

Character

Cape Horn offers a calm ambience and will appeal to home buyers who enjoy spending time outdoors. This area is quiet overall, as there isn't a lot of street noise or city clamour - although that is not the case near Trans-Canada Highway. Lastly, public green spaces are very easy to get to since there are approximately 10 of them close by for residents to visit.

Housing

Single detached homes are the predominant housing type, representing roughly 60% of dwellings in Cape Horn, while duplexes are the main alternative in the housing stock. This area offers mainly three bedroom and four or more bedroom homes. Homeowners occupy around 80% of the properties in the neighbourhood and 20% are rented. Roughly half of homes in this part of Coquitlam were constructed in the 1960s and 1970s, while most of the remaining buildings were built pre-1960 and in the 1980s.
