UDistrict

UDistrict is a neighbourhood within Abbotsford, British Columbia, which is located in the Abbotsford - Mission metropolitan area.

Transportation

Cars are an excellent medium of transportation in UDistrict. It is a very short drive to the nearest highway, such as Trans-Canada Highway, from any home in this neighbourhood, and it is convenient to find a place to park. However, public transit riders may experience few choices in UDistrict by reason of the service's low frequency. Nonetheless, the neighbourhood is linked by about 10 bus lines, and it is very easy to reach a nearby bus stop from most properties. The bike is a sometimes poor method of transportation in UDistrict as riding is made arduous by the typically steep topography, and the bicycling network is somewhat poor. Nonetheless, a good number of people choose to travel by bicycle. Walking in UDistrict is also not very popular, although many daily errands can be run without the need to get in a car.

Services

In this part of the city, parents and their children will typically be able to access schools and daycares without the use of a car. With respect to eating, property owners in this area often need a vehicle to purchase their groceries. Nevertheless, reaching the nearest pharmacy and consequently some basic food items is typically very easy. There are a fair number of options in close proximity for those who appreciate restaurants and cafes. A decent choice of clothing stores can also be found within a rather short walking distance.

Character

The character of UDistrict is exemplified by its relaxed atmosphere. Most areas in this neighbourhood are quiet, as there are low levels of noise from traffic - although that is not the case close to Trans-Canada Highway. Lastly, there are approximately 20 green spaces nearby for residents to visit and they are very well-spread out, resulting in them being easy to reach from a lot of locations within UDistrict.

Housing

Around 30% of properties in UDistrict were constructed between 1990 and 2000, while the majority of the remaining buildings were constructed in the 1960s and the 1980s. In this neighbourhood, about half of dwellings are small apartment buildings, but duplexes and single detached homes are also present in the housing stock. Roughly two thirds of the properties in the neighbourhood are occupied by homeowners whereas the rest are rented. This neighbourhood offers mainly four or more bedroom and two bedroom homes.
