Aster

Part of the Greater Edmonton metropolitan area, Aster is a neighbourhood within Edmonton, Alberta.

Transportation

Driving is a great transportation option in Aster. It is very convenient to come across a place to park. In contrast, public transit riders may experience very few options in Aster due to the infrequent service. Thankfully, there are a few bus lines crossing the neighbourhood. Biking is at times difficult in Aster as the cycling network is not very well-developed, and the topography is not especially flat. Many of the homes for sale in this part of the city are located in areas that are also not very well-suited for those who prefer to get around as pedestrians as very few day-to-day errands can be run without needing a vehicle.

Services

Aster does not have any high schools or primary schools. Furthermore, daycares are not particularly numerous and therefore may require an extended distance to get to. As far as eating is concerned, it is occasionally practical for property owners in this neighbourhood to purchase groceries as pedestrians. There are also a few choices for those who value restaurants and cafes in close proximity.

Character

The character of Aster is exemplified by its slower-paced environment. This part of the city is reasonably good for those who prefer quiet surroundings, as the streets tend to be quite peaceful. Lastly, there are about 10 green spaces nearby for residents to relax in, like Meadows District Park and Laurel Park, resulting in them being easy to access from a large number of locations in Aster.

Housing

Around 80% of the properties in the neighbourhood are occupied by homeowners and the rest are rented. Single detached homes are the predominant housing type, representing about 60% of buildings in this neighbourhood, while small apartment buildings and townhouses make up most of the remaining housing stock. This part of Edmonton experienced its largest construction boom following the year 2000, so most of the available properties are from this era. This neighbourhood also has a variety of unit sizes; however this area is notable for those looking for three bedroom homes.
