Southwood will appeal to active people as it is reasonably well-suited for walking; many common errands can be run without needing to use a vehicle. Even though there are a limited number of slopes for cyclists to brave, the bike is a rather poor means of transportation in Southwood as. Southwood is not especially transit friendly. Thankfully, rapid transit stations, including Anderson Station and Southland Station with access to the 201 | Red Line - Somerset - Bridlewood/Tuscany CTrain, are not very far from the greater part of properties in the neighbourhood. Homeowners are served by around 10 bus lines, and most residences are very close to a bus stop. However, this part of Calgary is car friendly. It is very easy to park.


The closest supermarket in Southwood is generally only a reasonably short walk away. Additionally, a restaurant is often just around the corner, and property owners can enjoy a few cafes as well. With respect to education, it is a short walk to reach primary schools and daycares from any location in Southwood. However, there are no high schools in this neighbourhood.
