Part of the Greater Québec City metropolitan area, Vieux-Bourg is a neighbourhood within Québec, Quebec.

Transportation

Driving is very often the favoured transportation option in Vieux-Bourg. It is convenient to park, and the majority of real estate listings are a very short drive from the closest highway, such as Autoroute Félix-Leclerc. On the other hand, commuting by transit can be difficult in this neighbourhood by reason of the low service level. Nonetheless, there are around 30 bus lines traversing the neighbourhood, and bus stops are not very far from most houses. Vieux-Bourg is not especially amenable to bicycling as riding is rendered difficult by the often steep terrain, and the cycling infrastructure is rather limited. Walking is also not very common in this neighbourhood, despite the fact that many day-to-day needs can be met without the use of a vehicle.

Services

Both primary and secondary schools are very easy to access as a pedestrian from anywhere in Vieux-Bourg. In contrast, there are only a few daycares and accordingly they can be an extended walk away. As far as food is concerned, in all but a few cases, a vehicle is needed in Vieux-Bourg to reach the nearest grocery store. Nonetheless, pharmacies are typically very easy to access on foot and provide some basic food items. Residents of this part of Québec benefit from approximately 30 restaurants as well.

Character

People who prefer a calm ambience will enjoy Vieux-Bourg. Many locations in the neighbourhood have reasonably good access to parks, like Parc de la Famille and Parc de la Rivière-Beauport, since there are about 30 of them close by for residents to relax in. Most areas in this part of Québec are very quiet, as the streets are very calm closer to the railway line, the airport (Héliport de Beauport (HQ)), Autoroute Dufferin-Montmorency or Autoroute Félix-Leclerc.

Housing

Roughly 45% of dwellings are small apartment buildings, making it easy to find apartments in Vieux-Bourg, while single detached homes are also present in the housing stock. This neighbourhood is primarily composed of three bedroom and two bedroom homes. The population residing in this area is evenly split between owners and renters. About 40% of homes in this neighbourhood were built in the 1960s and 1970s, while most of the remaining buildings were constructed pre-1960 and in the 1980s.
