Mile-Ex

The neighbourhood of Mile-Ex is part of the city of Montréal, Quebec, which is located in the Greater Montreal metropolitan area.

Transportation

Mile-Ex is an excellent neighbourhood with respect to getting around without a car. Mile-Ex is especially transit friendly thanks to a multitude of nearby rapid transit stations on the Ligne 2 - Orange and Ligne 5 - Bleue, and approximately 20 nearby bus lines. A majority of the homes for sale in this part of the city are located in places that are also particularly suitable for those who travel as pedestrians; meeting daily needs is very easy without a car, and many businesses are reasonably close by. Mile-Ex will draw active people since it is very suitable for cycling. For example, the cycling network is good, and cyclists do not face significant elevation changes.

Services

A general and a specialty grocery store is always only a very short trip away in Mile-Ex. Moreover, owing to over 150 restaurants and approximately 10 coffee shops, Mile-Ex is a very good area in which to go out to eat. Residents benefit from a very large number of nearby clothing stores. As far as education is concerned, in Mile-Ex, parents and their children will generally be able to reach daycares and schools as pedestrians.

Character

Mile-Ex is a great part of the city for those who enjoy both indoor and outdoor activities. Finding energetic places in this neighbourhood is very easy. There is a reasonably good selection of entertainment venues, there are very often crowds of people around, and with its about 30 bars, there are options for nighttime activities. Rue Jean-Talon is among the most lively streets in this neighbourhood. Greenery is not very present in this neighbourhood; although, there are around 40 public green spaces nearby for residents to unwind in, like Parc Jarry, and they are especially well-spread out, which results in them being very easy to get to from a lot of locations within Mile-Ex.

Housing

In Mile-Ex, around 85% of dwellings are small apartment buildings, but duplexes are also present in the housing stock. This area is primarily composed of two bedroom and one bedroom homes. The proportions of renters and homeowners are about even. Around 40% of homes in this area were built pre-1960, while most of the remaining buildings were built in the 1960s and the 2000s.
