The Elms

The neighbourhood of The Elms is part of the city of Toronto, Ontario, which is located in the Greater Toronto Area metropolitan area.


The Elms will attract homeowners that appreciate different means of transportation. With a few nearby bus lines, the public transit system in this part of Toronto is reasonably practical. Most homes for sale in this area are located in areas that are also reasonably suitable for those who travel by foot; running common errands is easy by walking. Commuting by bicycle is challenging in this neighbourhood since the bicycling infrastructure is not very comprehensive, and there is a significant amount of hills. Thankfully, certain enjoyable areas for bicycling can be found.


In The Elms, parents and their kids will usually be able to get to schools and daycares by walking. With respect to food, it is convenient to get to the nearest supermarket on foot in The Elms. Furthermore, a restaurant is often just around the corner, and a small selection of cafes can be found as well. It is also convenient to get to a variety of clothing stores on foot.


People who prefer a slower-paced environment will enjoy The Elms. This neighbourhood is quiet, as there tend to be low levels of noise from traffic - although there are still several louder areas, especially near Highway 401. Finally, the greenery in this neighbourhood is prominent as numerous tree-lined streets are around. It is very easy to reach parks from the majority of locations within the neighbourhood, since there are a few of them close by for residents to unwind in, including West Humber Parkland and The Elms Park.


The Elms did not experience a single building boom; the construction of new buildings in the neighbourhood was spread throughout multiple decades in recent history. The majority of the housing stock of this neighbourhood is made up of single detached homes and large apartment buildings, and the rest are mainly townhouses. Homeowners occupy about 60% of the units in The Elms and 40% are rented. This neighbourhood offers mainly two bedroom and three bedroom homes.
