Observatory

The neighbourhood of Observatory is part of the town of Richmond Hill, Ontario, which is located in the Greater Toronto Area metropolitan area.

Transportation

Observatory is a fairly convenient part of Richmond Hill for pedestrians; many daily needs can be met without the use of a vehicle. On the other hand, cycling is sometimes difficult in this area as there are a fair number of slopes, and the bicycling network is not very well-developed. Observatory is not particularly transit friendly. Nevertheless, it is convenient to reach a nearby rapid transit station, including Yonge / 16th-Carrville with access to the blue | VIVA BLUE, from the bulk of homes in the neighbourhood. There are a few bus lines passing through the neighbourhood, and bus stops are not very far-removed from most houses. In contrast, this part of Richmond Hill is very car friendly. Accessing a place to park is quite easy.

Services

It is convenient to reach both a general and a specialty grocery store on foot from most houses for sale in this area. Moreover, a restaurant is often just around the corner. As far as education is concerned, parents and their children will appreciate that no matter where their house is situated in this neighbourhood, daycares and schools are nearby.

Character

Observatory is a good neighbourhood to buy a home in for those who prefer a calm ambience. This area is reasonably quiet, as there are low levels of noise from traffic - however noise can be an issue closer to the railway line. Finally, there are a few green spaces nearby for residents to explore, resulting in them being very easy to reach from most locations in this part of the town.

Housing

Large apartment buildings are the most common housing type, representing about half of dwellings in Observatory, while the rest are mainly single detached homes and townhouses. Roughly 40% of properties in this area were constructed between 1990 and 2000, while many of the remaining buildings were built in the 1980s and the 2000s. This part of the town is primarily composed of three bedroom and two bedroom homes. Homeowners occupy around two thirds of the units in the neighbourhood and renters occupy the remainder.
