Transportation

No matter the medium of transportation, it is reasonably easy to travel in this part of the city. This neighbourhood is very transit friendly due to 2 rapid transit stations (Iris 2a and Iris 1a) on the 75 |, and approximately 40 nearby bus lines. Iris is also reasonably appropriate for biking as the cycling infrastructure is well-developed. Travelling by foot in Iris is not very popular, although many daily needs are convenient to carry out on foot. However, the favoured method to get around in Iris is usually a car. Parking is generally easy, and it is a short car ride to the nearest highway, such as Highway 417, from anywhere in Iris.

Services

It is a rather short walk to reach schools and daycares from anywhere in Iris. Regarding food, some, but not all, house buyers in Iris will live within walking distance of the closest supermarket. However, a restaurant is often just around the corner, for example on Cobden Road, and a limited variety of coffee shops is available as well. It is also a rather short walk to a decent selection of clothing stores.

Character

Iris offers a calm ambience and will appeal to home buyers who enjoy spending time in green spaces. It is easy to get to parks from most locations within the neighbourhood since there are a few of them nearby for residents to relax in. This part of Ottawa is also reasonably good for those who need a quiet atmosphere, as there tend to be low levels of noise from traffic - although there are still several noisier sections, especially closer to Highway 417.

This neighbourhood also has a good choice of housing sizes; it is quite easy to find homes ranging from lofts to four or more bedrooms. This part of Ottawa experienced its biggest construction boom in the 1960s and 1970s, so most of the available properties are from this era.
