Glendale

The neighbourhood of Glendale can be found in the town of Niagara-on-the-Lake, Ontario, which is located in the St. Catharines - Niagara metropolitan area.

Transportation

The preferred approach to navigate Glendale is very often a car. Most real estate listings are a rather short car ride from the closest highway, such as Queen Elizabeth Way, and it is very easy to park. On the other hand, this area is not very transit friendly. Thankfully, the neighbourhood is connected by a few bus lines. Bicycling is occasionally challenging in Glendale as the area is not especially flat, and there are few bike lanes. Many of the homes for sale in this neighbourhood are located in places that are also not very conducive to pedestrians as very few day-to-day errands can be run without needing to get in a car.

Services

There are no high schools and no primary schools in Glendale. Likewise, daycares are not especially abundant and therefore tend to require an extended distance to get to. When it comes to eating, in all but a few cases, a car is needed in Glendale to reach the nearest supermarket. Residents can enjoy about 20 restaurants and coffee shops as well.

Character

The character of Glendale is exemplified by its calm atmosphere. Most areas in Glendale are quiet, as there tend to be low levels of noise from traffic - however some parts can be quite loud, especially around the airport (St. Catharines/Niagara District Airport), Queen Elizabeth Way or Highway 405.

Housing

Most of the housing growth in Glendale has taken place following the year 2000. The predominant housing types in this part of the town are single detached homes and row houses. Homeowners occupy about 80% of the properties in the neighbourhood whereas the rest are rented. This part of Niagara-on-the-Lake offers mainly three bedroom and four or more bedroom homes.
