Box Grove

Part of the Greater Toronto Area metropolitan area, Box Grove is a neighbourhood within Markham, Ontario.

The favoured method of transportation in Box Grove is very often driving. Most properties for sale are a reasonably short drive from the closest highway, such as Highway 407, and parking is quite easy. In contrast, commuting by public transit is challenging in this neighbourhood. Thankfully, property owners are served by a few bus lines, and bus stops are commonly nearby. Cycling is challenging in this neighbourhood as the bicycling network is not very well-developed, and there are a fair number of elevation changes. Box Grove is also not very suitable for those who travel by foot because meeting day-to-day needs is at times challenging.

Primary schools and daycares are convenient to access on foot from most properties for sale in this part of the city. On the other hand, this neighbourhood does not have any high schools. When it comes to food, a fraction of property owners in Box Grove may have the option to buy groceries on foot, while others will need another means of transportation. There are also a few choices for those who care about restaurants and cafes in close proximity.

The character of Box Grove is exemplified by its relaxed ambience. There are a few public green spaces nearby for residents to enjoy, which results in them being easy to access from a large number of locations in the neighbourhood. This part of Markham is also reasonably good for those who prefer a quiet atmosphere, as there tend to be low levels of noise from traffic - although there are still several noisier sections, especially around Highway 407 or one of the railway lines.

The predominance of single detached homes in the housing stock of Box Grove is an important part of its character. This area is primarily composed of three bedroom and four or more bedroom homes. Roughly 90% of the population of this neighbourhood own their home and 10% are renters. Most housing in this part of the city was constructed after the year 2000, during its largest building boom.
