Part of the Metro Vancouver metropolitan area, Sentinel Hill is a neighbourhood within West Vancouver, British Columbia.

Transportation

It is easy for pedestrians to navigate Sentinel Hill; many common errands can be run without having to resort to a vehicle. Although some pleasant areas for cycling can be found, this area is not very conducive to bicycling because cyclists are faced with quite a few slopes, and there are few bike lanes. This neighbourhood is not particularly transit friendly. Nevertheless, residents are served by a few bus lines, and the closest bus stop is typically very close. In contrast, getting around by car is especially convenient in Sentinel Hill. It is very convenient to park, and it is a short drive to the closest highway, such as Trans-Canada Highway, from any home in this part of the municipality.

Services

Families will appreciate that no matter where their property is located in Sentinel Hill, daycares and primary schools are nearby. However, there are no high schools in this neighbourhood. In terms of food, it is often practical for house buyers in Sentinel Hill to do their groceries on foot. Moreover, Sentinel Hill is a fairly good place in which to eat out, for example on Park Royal, and a small variety of coffee shops is available as well.

Character

Sentinel Hill is a good neighbourhood to buy a house in for those who prefer a relaxed environment. Public green spaces are very well-situated and there are a few of them nearby for residents to discover, making it very easy to reach them. Most areas in this part of the municipality are reasonably quiet, as there tend to be low levels of noise from traffic - although there are still several louder sections, especially near Trans-Canada Highway.

Housing

In Sentinel Hill, roughly two thirds of dwellings are single detached homes, and the rest of the dwellings are mainly large apartment buildings and duplexes. This neighbourhood is primarily composed of three bedroom and four or more bedroom homes. Homeowners occupy around 85% of the units in Sentinel Hill whereas the rest are rented. Around half of homes in this area were constructed prior to the 1960s, while most of the remaining buildings were built in the 1960s and the 2000s.
