East Richmond

The neighbourhood of East Richmond can be found in the city of Richmond, British Columbia, which is located in the Metro Vancouver metropolitan area.

East Richmond is an extraordinarily good part of Richmond for driving. It is especially convenient to come across a place to park, and many real estate listings are a rather short drive from the nearest highway, such as Highway 91. On the other hand, the public transit system in East Richmond is rather poor. Nonetheless, residents are served by around 10 bus lines, and most properties are close to a bus stop. East Richmond is not very cycling-friendly because the bicycling network is not very extensive, and riding is made difficult by the often sloping terrain. Walking is also not very practical for house buyers in this part of the city as very few daily errands can be run on foot.

Some, but not all, home buyers in East Richmond will live within walking distance of the closest grocery store. A limited number of restaurants are available in this area as well. As far as education is concerned, families may consider it challenging to get to high schools and primary schools on foot. Moreover, daycares are not particularly numerous and thus not always within walking distance.

There is a great variety of green spaces in East Richmond. There are about 20 parks nearby for residents to check out, which makes it easy to reach them. Since there are very few pedestrians, this part of Richmond is relatively quiet.

Single detached homes are the most common housing type, representing most buildings in East Richmond, while the rest are mainly small apartment buildings, duplexes, and townhouses. This area has a good variety of housing size options, ranging from lofts to four or more bedrooms. Around 70% of the population of this neighbourhood own their home and 30% are renters. About one third of homes in this part of Richmond were constructed following the year 2000, while the majority of the remaining buildings were constructed pre-1960 and in the 1960s.
