Cape Horn

Part of the Metro Vancouver metropolitan area, Cape Horn is a neighbourhood within Coquitlam, British Columbia.


Driving is very often the preferred approach to navigate this neighbourhood. It is very convenient to find a parking spot, and the majority of real estate listings are a rather short car ride from the nearest highway, such as Trans-Canada Highway. On the other hand, Cape Horn is not very transit friendly. Nevertheless, the neighbourhood is linked by a few bus lines, and it is very convenient to reach a nearby bus stop from most properties. Cape Horn is not especially cycling-friendly because there is a significant amount of hills. Thankfully, the bicycling network is good. Travelling on foot is also not especially practical for residents in Cape Horn because carrying out daily needs is at times difficult.


It is easy to reach the closest grocery store by walking from any location in Cape Horn. A small variety of restaurants and cafes is available as well. In terms of education, schools and daycares are easy to walk to from most properties for sale in Cape Horn.


The character of Cape Horn is exemplified by its relaxed atmosphere. This part of Coquitlam is quiet overall, as there are generally low levels of noise from traffic - however some areas can be quite loud, especially near Trans-Canada Highway. Finally, there are about 10 parks nearby for residents to visit and they are very well-situated, which makes them very easy to reach from most locations in the neighbourhood.


Single detached homes are the predominant housing type, representing the majority of dwellings in Cape Horn, whereas the rest are mainly duplexes. About half of properties in this area were constructed in the 1960s and 1970s, while many of the remaining buildings were constructed pre-1960 and in the 1980s. This neighbourhood is primarily composed of three bedroom and four or more bedroom homes. Roughly 80% of the population of this neighbourhood own their home while renters make up the remainder.
