Norgate

The neighbourhood of Norgate is part of the municipality of District of North Vancouver, British Columbia, which is located in the Metro Vancouver metropolitan area.

Transportation

Travelling on foot is practical for property owners in Norgate; many common errands can be run without the use of a car, and various businesses are quite nearby. In contrast, travelling by bicycle is occasionally difficult in Norgate as there are a limited number of bike lanes, and there are a good number of elevation changes for cyclists to brave. The car is usually the favoured way to get around in this neighbourhood. Parking is generally easy, and it is a rather short drive to the closest highway from any home in this part of the municipality. In contrast, the public transit service in Norgate is not especially frequent. Nevertheless, homeowners have access to a few bus lines, and bus stops are not very far from most residences.

Services

Families will appreciate the proximity to primary schools and daycares, which are within walking distance from most homes for sale in Norgate. However, there are no high schools in this part of District of North Vancouver. As far as food is concerned, it is convenient to reach both a general and a specialty grocery store on foot from any home in Norgate. In addition, Norgate is a fairly good place in which to eat out, and a limited selection of cafes can be found as well. It is also easy to get to a selection of clothing stores on foot.

Character

Norgate is a fairly good neighbourhood to buy a house in for those who prefer a slower-paced ambience. There are approximately 10 public green spaces nearby for residents to discover and they are especially well-situated, making it very easy to reach them. This part of the municipality is quiet overall, as the streets are generally reasonably calm - however noise can be an issue near the railway line.

Housing

In Norgate, around 55% of buildings are single detached homes, but small apartment buildings are also present in the housing stock. This neighbourhood is primarily composed of two bedroom and three bedroom homes. Homeowners occupy roughly 80% of the properties in the neighbourhood and 20% are rented. About 45% of homes in this neighbourhood were built pre-1960, while the majority of the remaining buildings were built in the 1960s and the 1990s.
