Capilano is a neighbourhood within District of North Vancouver, British Columbia, which is situated in the Metro Vancouver metropolitan area.


This neighbourhood is a fairly pleasant part of District of North Vancouver for pedestrians; meeting daily needs is convenient. In contrast, this area is not very appropriate for bicycling because the cycling infrastructure is not very well-developed, and cyclists encounter quite a few elevation changes. Driving is a great transportation option in Capilano. Many real estate listings are a short car ride from the nearest highway, such as Trans-Canada Highway, and accessing a parking spot is quite easy. In contrast, the public transit service in this neighbourhood is not very frequent. Nevertheless, residents benefit from a few bus lines, and bus stops are generally nearby.


A supermarket is typically reachable within a reasonably short walk from most houses for sale in Capilano. Residents of this area are served by a few restaurants as well. In terms of education, parents and their children will find that wherever their property is located in this neighbourhood, daycares and primary schools are nearby. In contrast, there are no high schools in Capilano.


Capilano is a reasonably good neighbourhood to buy a home in for those who prefer a calm ambience. The noise levels in this part of District of North Vancouver are quite low, as the streets are generally peaceful - although there are still several noisier sections, especially around Trans-Canada Highway. Finally, public green spaces are very well-distributed and there are a few of them close by for residents to check out, resulting in them being very easy to access from most locations within Capilano.


In Capilano, roughly 60% of dwellings are single detached homes, whereas the rest are mainly small apartment buildings, duplexes, and townhouses. This part of District of North Vancouver offers mainly three bedroom and four or more bedroom homes. Homeowners occupy about 85% of the units in Capilano whereas renters occupy the remainder. About 45% of properties in this part of the municipality were constructed pre-1960, while most of the remaining buildings were constructed in the 1960s and the 2000s.
