The neighbourhood of Capilano is part of the municipality of District of North Vancouver, British Columbia, which is located in the Metro Vancouver metropolitan area.


It is easy for people walking to get around in Capilano; many common errands can be run on foot. On the other hand, Capilano is not very appropriate for cycling as this neighbourhood is home to a rather poor bicycling infrastructure, and cyclists encounter a significant amount of slopes. The public transit service in Capilano is not very frequent. Nevertheless, the neighbourhood is served by a few bus lines, and most homes are very close to a bus stop. On the other hand, Capilano is an extremely good part of District of North Vancouver for travelling by car. Most houses for sale are a short drive from the closest highway, such as Trans-Canada Highway, and it is very easy to access a parking spot.


Daycares and primary schools are convenient to walk to from most properties for sale in Capilano. However, this part of District of North Vancouver does not have any high schools. With respect to eating, the nearest supermarket in Capilano is typically only a reasonably short walk away. There are also a limited number of choices for those who appreciate restaurants in close proximity.


Capilano offers a slower-paced atmosphere and will appeal to those who enjoy spending time in green spaces. It is very easy to reach parks in the neighbourhood since there are a few of them close by for residents to discover. This part of District of North Vancouver is also quiet, as there isn't a lot of street noise or city clamour - however some areas can be quite noisy, especially closer to Trans-Canada Highway.


In Capilano, roughly 60% of dwellings are single detached homes, while the remainder are mainly small apartment buildings, duplexes, and townhouses. This neighbourhood offers mainly three bedroom and four or more bedroom homes. Homeowners occupy roughly 85% of the units in Capilano while the rest are rented. This neighbourhood did not experience a single construction boom; the construction of new buildings in Capilano was spread throughout multiple decades in the twentieth and twenty-first century.
